Students are paid on a bi-weekly basis during the summer. Time entries must be received by the payroll office by the stated deadlines (List of dates below). Summer Position Postings: The Student Employment Office will post job opportunities on the job board in Ferguson and on our web page. Please select the following link to post student job openings. Be prepared to include a brief description of the job, pay rate, approximate hours per week and the duration of the position. Hiring and Authorizing Students: Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should a student begin working prior to being authorized by the student payroll office. Any hourly paid student you hire will need to be added to the Online Time Clock in order to be paid for their summer employment. Please consult the training pages of the Online Time Clock for specific information. Please contact student payroll for stipend paid authorizations. If you need further information please contact Dawn Green in the Student Payroll/Human Resources Office (x-0196). If a student worked for you during the academic year they will need to be added to the Online Time Clock for summer employment. You must make sure that you check the box indicating they are a summer employee when they are added to the Online Time Clock and use the position code of 123 for all summer positions. Employment Tax Forms (W-4) and Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9): Submission of W-4 forms and an I-9 form is required by law. If your student worker has completed these forms during the academic year, no further paperwork is needed from the student. If these forms have not been completed, they need to be filed, in the Human Resources Office, before a student starts working. Please inform the student they will need to provide original required documents that have been deemed acceptable by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Click here for a complete list of acceptable documents. Pay Rates: Pay rates for summer positions have been established by the Executive Vice President. Please contact Dawn Green in the Student Payroll/Human Resources Office for a copy of the Wage Scale. Maximum Work Hours: Albion College students can work up to 40 hours per week from all campus employers combined. If you employ a student who is working in more than one campus position it is important for you to coordinate with the student to ensure that the 40-hour maximum is not exceeded. It is also important for students scheduled to work 40 hours per week to make sure they do not "punch in" early which could result in more than 40 hours of work. Any student who exceeds the 40-hour limit twice will be required to resign from one or more of their positions. ===============================================================================
