Responsibilities: Various tutoring opportunities available, and
in most academic subject areas (including interdisciplinary subjects).
Many positions are for one-on-one tutoring, though some positions may
involve working with groups of students. Specific tutoring positions
may require attendance at mandatory training sessions.
Skills: Must be proficient in one or more specific academic
areas and be able to provide names of at least two professors who can attest
to this proficiency. Must be personable, flexible, and responsible,
plus open to learning new approaches for helping students learn and master
academic material.
Hours: Varies. Some academic tutors work on an as-needed
basis while others work on a set weekly schedule.
Starting Wage: $7.70
Comments: Federal Work Study students are especially encouraged
to apply, but all applications are accepted. Please note, however,
that due to the requirement of college-level proficiency in specific
academic areas, first-year students are unlikely qualified for ASC academic
