Walton Reassigned to Senior Associate AD/SWA

Albion College Athletic Director Matt Arend announced Friday the reassignment of Melissa Walton to senior associate athletic director/senior women’s administrator and a search for a full-time volleyball coach will begin immediately.

Albion College won the second and third sets of its match against Kalamazoo College by identical scores of 25-23, but the Britons were unable to finish in a five-set loss to their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival. Kalamazoo won the match 25-15, 23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-7. Senior middle blocker Caitlin Wright, who was playing in her final match at the collegiate level, cracked nine kills, three service aces, and a pair of blocks. First-year outside hitter Kayla Gustitus finished with nine kills and four service aces. Jalyn Ingalls produced eight kills in addition to dishing out 19 assists.

Senior middle hitter Caitlin Wright collected four kills, two service aces, and two blocks in her final appearance at Kresge Gymnasium as Albion College suffered a three-set (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Saint Mary’s College in volleyball. First-year outside hitter Kayla Gustitus cracked a team-high seven kills, and Lauren DeLuyck added six kills and two service aces. Albion completes the season at 11 a.m. Saturday when it squares off against Kalamazoo College.
