Anthony to Throw Discus in NCAA Championships

Chelsea Anthony will make her second appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships.Chelsea Anthony, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s Most Valuable Field Athlete in women’s track & field for the 2012 season, will represent Albion College in the NCAA Division III Championships this week. Anthony qualified for the meet in the discus throw when she popped a school-record heave of 145’ 5” to take first place in the MIAA Championships.
Track & Field Season Winds Down

Track & Field athletes Zach Cooper, Ashley Miracle, and Amanda Weaver completed the season by running in the Gregory Final Qualifier. Miracle completed her junior campaign with a run of 2:18.74 in the 800 meters, and she was followed by Weaver at 2:23.60. Cooper raced to the finish line in 58.34 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles.
Nelson Near Top of Jumping Standings in Illinois Meet

Kristin Nelson, an Albion College junior from Iron Mountain, finished in the top eight in both jumping events in the Dr. Keeler at North Central College, but she didn’t achieve a season-best mark in either event. Nelson sailed 35’ 9 ¼” to finish fifth out of 21 competitors in the triple jump and 17’ 8 ¼” to finish eighth out of 38 in the long jump.
