Four Britons Post Top Eight Finishes At MIAA Meet

Holly WilliamsHolly WilliamsHolly Williams (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) completed her collegiate career with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly on the final day of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships. Her sister, Lindy, also swam in a championship final Saturday, finishing eighth in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Divers Paul Lewis and Zane Havens, both Albion High School graduates, produced 23 points for the men’s team score by placing seventh and eighth, respectively, in 3-meter diving.

Rachael Restum (East Lansing/Okemos) and Caroline Dobbins (Albion) completed thier Albion careers with 11th- and 16th place swims in the 1,650-yard freestyle. William Schmidt was 13th in the men’s race.

In other events, Shea Williams (Traverse City/Traverse City West) was 11th in the women’s 200-yard backstroke, Claire Van Raaphorst (Rochester/Stoney Creek) was 11th in the women’s 200-yard butterfly, Brad Melpolder (Hamilton) was 14th in the men’s 100-yard freestyle, Jake Lane (Northville) was 15th in the men’s 200-yard butterfly, and Olivia Dynes (Decatur, Ind./Adams Central) was 16th in the women’s 200-yard breaststroke.
