Melpolder Finishes Fourth in 400 IM

Brad Melpolder contributed 15 points to the Albion College men’s swimming & diving team score in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships when he finished fourth in the 400-yard individual medley. The sophomore from Hamilton completed the final in 4:14.66, nearly two-tenths of a second behind the third-place finisher.
The Albion women gained 19 points by having three swim in the consolation race of the 100-yard butterfly. Holly Williams (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview) won the consolation race – taking ninth overall – with a time of 1:01.53. Mackenzie Chesley (Rochester/Notre Dame Prep) and Claire VanRaaphorst (Rochester/Stoney Creek) finished 11th and 13th, respectively.
One-meter diving also provided a boost to the women’s point total as Lauren Rao (Trpy/Notre Dame Prep) and Amy Bell (Farmington Hills/Farmington) finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
Lindy Williams (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview) was the first to the finish in the consolation of the 100-yard breaststroke.
Shea Williams (Traverse City/Traverse City West) finished 12th in the 100-yard backstroke.
Rachael Restum (East Lansing/Okemos) and Caroline Dobbins (Albion) were 15th and 16th, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle.
Also for the men, Landon Lefler (Okemos) finished 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke.
