Bell, Lewis Place Sixth in Diving Events

Amy Bell, a sophomore from Farmington Hills, and Paul Lewis, a sophomore from Albion, posted Albion College’s highest individual finishes up to this point in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships when they placed sixth in their respective diving events. Bell finished with a total score of 333.85 in women’s 3-meter, while Lewis was awarded 339.45 in the men’s 1-meter event.

Three women represented Albion in the consolation final of the 200-yard individual medley. Lindy Williams and Mackenzie Chesley were separated by four-hundredths of a second at the finish to place 11th and 12th, respectively. Shea Williams came in 14th.

Brad Melpolder completed the men’s 200 IM consolation race in 1:59.56 to finish 12th.

Friday events at the MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships include the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, and women’s 1-meter diving.
