Kolling Caps Softball Career With Homerun

Albion College’s softball season came to a close Friday with 6-0 and 9-5 losses to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion Trine University at Dempsey Field. Alyssa Castillo and Samantha Kolling, two of six seniors who completed their collegiate careers, collected three hits apiece. Kolling slugged a homerun and drove in three runs in game two.

Koehler Slugs First Homerun of the Season

Jessica Koehler slugged her first homerun of the season as Albion College lost a pair of softball games to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Hope College by scores of 12-3 and 7-2. Koehler, Kaitlyn Downey and Kara Wandrie all collected two hits in the doubleheader. Albion will complete the season at 3:30 p.m. Friday when it challenges Trine University at Dempsey Field.

Albion Drops Softball Games At Olivet

Samantha Kolling and Kaitlyn Downey hit RBI singles in game two, but Albion College was unable to make the 2-0 lead hold up as it was swept by Olivet College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball action. Olivet won game one, 8-0 in five innings, and game two, 5-2. Claire Cannon and Kara Wandrie collected hits in both games and Downey and Kolling produced two hits in game two. Albion has two MIAA doubleheaders remaining, a April 25 date at Hope College and a April 28 home date with Trine University.
