Hunt Seat Riders Complete Season At Regional Show

After a tremendous regular season that saw it finish third in the overall team standings for Zone 6, Region 4, the Albion College equestrian hunt seat team came up a bit short in their post-season run at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association’s Feb. 19 regional meet.

Miranda VoegeMiranda VoegeOf the individual riders qualified for the meet, Miranda Voege (Carmel, Ind./Park Tudor) recorded the highest placed ride for Albion in the intermediate division where she earned third place over fences. With first and second place riders in each class moving on to the IHSA Zone Finals, this result put Voege just out of contention but set her up nicely for a strong 2012-13 season.

Also riding well were seniors Lannis Smith (Northville/Northville) in intermediate over fences and Jane Fillmore (Hope/St. Johns International School) in novice flat.  Both finished their intercollegiate riding careers with fourth place finishes.

Coach Randi Branson-Gardner was pleased with the efforts of all of her riders and commended them all on making her first season with the Britons a memorable one.

“I’m proud of each one of my riders,” she said.  “They all worked hard and it’s been great getting to know them.  I’m looking forward to next season!”
