ROYAL OAK, Mich. - Albion College junior libero Maggie Dusbiber has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Specialty Player of the Week in the sport of volleyball, league publicist Greg Chandler announced Monday afternoon.
The Britons extended their winning streak to four with victories over Adrian College (25-20, 29-27, 24-26, 25-12) and Kalamazoo College (25-17, 24-26, 25-21, 10-25, 15-12) last week. Dusbiber, from Chelsea, collected 50 digs and seven aces in the contests.
"I was excited for Maggie because she plays middle back and does not receive as many opportunities to dig the ball," Albion head coach Melissa Walton said. "All of the coaches recognized how well she played last week. I am really excited about her serving. We are confident when Maggie goes back to serve."
Through 18 matches, Dusbiber leads the Britons in digs (284) and aces (35).
Albion continues league play at home Wednesday night at 6:30 against 16th-ranked Calvin College. The Britons will complete the regular season series with Adrian Saturday morning at the Bulldogs' Merillat Sport & Fitness Center.
