Albion, Mich. - On a windy day at
Alumni Field, the men's soccer team dominated the first half with 3
goals on their way to cruising to a 4-0 victory over Adrian in front of
a crowd of 67 on Saturday afternoon.
The offensively potent Britons utilized
the strong wind to their advantage, scoring their first goal 3 minutes
into the game when senior forward Brett
Bonjernoor (Lake Ann/Traverse City West) scored his first goal of
the season off of a great pass from sophomore Jason Smith
(Tecumseh/Tecumseh).
Albion proceeded to pour on the pressure, eventually
notching another score at 33:49 when Smith scored on a penalty kick.
Shortly after that goal, junior Chris Himes (Fenton/Fenton) blew
the game open with an unassisted goal, the Brits' third of the first
half off of 10 shots.
The second period was a more back and forth
affair, with each team notching 7 shots. Jason Smith knocked a
shot off of the post before sophomore Clayton Wilson
(Chelsea/Chelsea) nailed the final score of the match off of a nice
assist from freshman Andrew Low (Niles/Brandywine). Junior
goalkeeper David Melotti posted two saves on the day.
This victory improves the Britons' record to 8-9-1 on
the season. Next week, the squad goes on the road against Olivet
on Nov. 3.
