Keith Havens works with an Albion swimmer.

After 27 years as head coach of the Albion College swimming and diving programs and the canoe club, Keith Havens is retiring. The College intends to honor Coach Havens and the impact he has made on countless student-athletes by purchasing a new timing system, touch pads, and LED scoreboard for the Dean Aquatic Center, and naming the scoreboard after him in recognition for his dedication and service to Albion. Alumni, parents, and friends are encouraged to support this effort.

Taber Selected to Lead Swimming & Diving Program

Jake TaberAn honorable mention All-American and Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion in the 200-yard freestyle relay who has coached scholar-athletes to 14 MIAA championships as well as a two-time NCAA Elite 88 Award recipient over the last five years has been selected to lead the Albion College swimming & diving program. Athletic Director Matt Arend announced Monday, March 26 the appointment of Jake Taber as head swimming & diving coach. Taber succeeds longtime coach Keith Havens who will retire at the end of the academic year.

Swimming & Divng Achieve Distinction as Scholar All-America Teams

The Albion College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams have achieved distinction as Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. The women’s squad boasts a 3.47 grade point average, second-best in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and tied for 13th nationally in Division III. The men were also second in the MIAA with a 3.27 GPA.
