Albion Stopped on the Road in Men's Soccer

ALMA, Mich. – Desperate to score the equalizer in the second half, Albion College fired 10 shots but none were placed on goal as the Britons suffered a 1-0 setback to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Alma College.

It was a bitter result for the Britons who hoped to move to .500 in league play. Instead, Albion will travel to Holland, Mich., for a Saturday night match with Hope College needing a victory to finish the first half of league play with a 3-4 mark.

Albion pressed to score the first goal of the match in the 35th minute, but Charlie Micunek’s (Granger, Ind./Penn) shot was blocked and Ben Lightner’s (Northville) shot was stopped by Alma goalkeeper Graham Wallace. Alma went on to tally the only goal of the match 4 ½ minutes later as Eric Foster scored.

Albion’s best scoring chance came midway through the second half as Alex Crkovski’s (Shelby Township/Utica) attempt clanged off the post. Crkovski, who did not start, finished with a team-high three shots. Micunek and Josh Deuel (Dowagiac) produced two shots apiece.
