Merritt Finishes Golf Season as All-MIAA Performer

Scott MerrittThe Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association made it official Monday – Albion College senior Scott Merritt achieved distinction as an all-league first team performer in men’s golf. The Bloomfield Hills product who graduated from Lahser High School, posted a 75.5-stroke average in eight jamborees, the fourth-best figure in the league.
Merritt placed in the top 10 on the individual leader board in seven of the eight jamborees. His best round, a 72, earned his a tie for third in the round at Trine University’s Zollner Golf Course.
“Scott was a great leader and model of consistency for our squad this fall,” Albion Coach Jordan Rich, ’03, said. “The work he put in on his short game and putting was evident as he was much improved in those areas. As a Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholar and MIAA Academic Honor Roll recipient last year, Scott really is the total student-athlete package.”
