Merritt Closing In On All-MIAA Award

Scott Merritt continued his march toward an all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association award in men's golf Monday. Playing in the league's seventh jamboree at the Watermark Country Club, the senior from Bloomfield Hills tied for seventh in the individual standings with a round of 77.

Merritt sits fifth in the individual standings for the season with a 75.9-stroke average. The six players with the lowest scoring averages gain all-MIAA first team status, while the next six are placed on the all-MIAA second team.

Logan Hull and Brent Koaches produced rounds of 78 and Taylor DesEnfants a 85 as Albion College finished sixth in the team standings with a 318 score. The Britons were one stroke behind fifth-place Olivet College and three behind fourth-place Adrian College.

The final MIAA Jamboree of the season is scheduled for Saturday at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian.
