Scott MerrittScott MerrittThe Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association made it official Monday – Albion College senior Scott Merritt achieved distinction as an all-league first team performer in men’s golf. The Bloomfield Hills product who graduated from Lahser High School, posted a 75.5-stroke average in eight jamborees, the fourth-best figure in the league.

Merritt placed in the top 10 on the individual leader board in seven of the eight jamborees. His best round, a 72, earned his a tie for third in the round at Trine University’s Zollner Golf Course.

Merritt Expects All-MIAA First Team Award

Scott MerrittScott MerrittThe Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association commissioner hasn’t released the all-league men’s golf team yet, but it’s a mathematical lock that Albion College senior Scott Merritt has achieved first team status. The senior from Bloomfield Hills fired a 73 at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian Saturday to finish the season with a 75-stroke average. Albion and Alma College tied for sixth in the final MIAA Jamboree with 307 totals. The Britons and Scots finished two strokes behind Calvin College’s fifth-place score of 305 and five behind Adrian College’s fourth-place score of 302.

Merritt Closing In On All-MIAA Award

Scott Merritt continued his march toward an all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association award in men's golf Monday. Playing in the league's seventh jamboree at the Watermark Country Club, the senior from Bloomfield Hills tied for seventh in the individual standings with a round of 77.
