Hunt Seat Riders Complete Season At Regional Show

After a tremendous regular season that saw it finish third in the overall team standings for Zone 6, Region 4, the Albion College equestrian hunt seat team came up a bit short in their post-season run at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association’s Feb. 19 regional meet.

Despite cold temperatures and the added pressure of having Intercollegiate Horse Show Association founder and executive director Bob Cacchione in attendance, the Albion College hunt seat team continued its unbeaten streak at home Feb. 11, besting 12 other teams from Michigan and Canada. Albion riders swept the blue ribbons in seven different divisions from open through walk-trot on the way to the win. Britney Stanton and Meredith Michalec secured trips to the IHSA regional show in their respective divisions.
Behrendt, Doering Become IHSA Regional Qualifiers

Taylor Macielak, shown aboard Highland, took second place in open over fences.The Briton hunt seat team added two more Intercollegiate Horse Show Association regional qualifiers to its already impressive list during the Michigan State University double-header on Saturday and Sunday, January 14 and 15. Senior Sarah Behrendt (Walled Lake/Lutheran Westland) earned her qualification in the intermediate over fences division and junior Ruthie Doering (Cadillac/Cadillac) qualified in novice on the flat.
