Albion Bounced From MIAA Baseball Tournament

Albion College's baseball season came to a close in a 7-0 loss to Hope College in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament. The game was scoreless throughout seven innings. Starting pitcher Kyle Cassidy gave the Britons a strong effort, yielding two unearned runs on six hits and three walks over 7.1 innings. Eric Shimmel produced two of Albion's five hits.

Albion Falls in MIAA Baseball Tournament

Mike Schypinski pitched well, scattering two runs on six hits over 7.1 innings, but he didn't get much support from the offense as Albion fell to 10th-ranked Adrian, 2-0, in an opening round game of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Tournament. Albion generated four hits. Chuck DeClarke slugged a two-out double in the first inning. Chad Gromek, Ben Gould, and Dan Mills hit singles. Albion will return to Nicolay Field at 1 p.m. Thursday in an elimination game.

Albion Places Three on All-MIAA Baseball Team

Albion College shortstop Davin Montgomery, who finished the season among the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leaders in batting average, hits and sacrifice bunts, was rewarded Tuesday when the league coaches selected him for all-MIAA first team status. Senior outfielder Chuck DeClarke and junior pitcher Mike Schypinski were placed on the second team.
