Albion scores wins over Alma in the pool

Senior A.J. Dancho (Belleville/Belleville) and junior Chase Bacon (Novelty, Ohio/Hawken School) led the Briton men, each swimming to first-place finishes in two individual events as well as boosting the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams to victory. Junior Lisa Colville (DeWitt/DeWitt) and sophomore Lindsay Davis (Saginaw/Heritage) led the Briton women, each touching the wall first in two individual events and helping the 200 medley relay team to victory. Juniors Dan Fradeneck (Eastpointe/East Detroit) and Lindsay Brown (Commerce Township/Walled Lake Central) swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events.
Senior John Fodell (Grosse Pointe/South) won two individual events and swam on the men’s 200 medley relay. First-year athlete Ryan Gunderson (Grosse Pointe/Grosse Pointe South) swam a leg on both of the men’s winning relays. First-year athlete Paul Krone (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Country Day) swam to first place in the 500-yard freestyle as well as the freestyle relay. First-year athlete Ben Whiting (Jackson/Jackson) swam to victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
First-year athlete Brittany Wiese (Oakland Township/Rochester Adams) was a winner in a pair of individual events. Sophomore Mallory Field (Dearborn/Dearborn) swam to victory in the 100-yard freestyle, first-year athlete Laura Wolbert (Grand Rapids/East Grand Rapids) touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle, and sophomores Erin Brodhagen (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) and Lauren Sugg (Saginaw/Nouvel Catholic Central) were members of the Britons’ winning 200 medley relay team.
Albion continues MIAA dual meet action Nov. 19 when it faces Olivet College inside the Dean Aquatic Center at 1 p.m.
