Cross Country squads receive All-Academic awards

Albion College head cross country coach Hayden Smith has asked his runners to succeed on the trail and in the classroom. The Britons continue to do both as the men’s and women’s teams were honored as All-Academic squads by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Sophomore Forrest Hutchins was included on the list of All-Academic individuals after posting a 3.55 grade point average and finishing 34th in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships in November. The Britons continue to do both as the men’s and women’s teams were honored as All-Academic squads by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Britons have earned the academic award every year during Smith’s five-year tenure as head coach. The women’s squad boasts a 3.43 grade point average, while the men posted a 3.18 GPA.

Sophomore Forrest Hutchins (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) was included on the list of All-Academic individuals after posting a 3.55 GPA and finishing among the top 25 percent in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships. Hutchins cruised to a 34th-place finish to earn an all-region award on the trail.
