Become a Briton!
At Albion College we pride ourselves on our commitment to emphasizing both academics and athletics in the lives of our student-athletes. We offer 21 varsity sports for men and women. Most of our teams compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association; the equestrian teams are affiliated with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and the men's lacrosse team is affiliated with the Midwest Lacrosse Conference.
The Britons have already produced highlights during the 2011-2012 academic year, including:
The football team won its 34th Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship and went on to compete in the NCAA Division III Championships. The Britons swept the MIAA's special awards as Chris Greenwood was named the defensive MVP, Matt Lozier received the Pete Schmidt Award, and Clinton Orr was selected as the offensive MVP. Greenwood was also placed on the American Football Coaches Association's All-America team.
The men's cross country team was represented by Paul Lewis at the NCAA Division III Championships. Lewis and Lauren Kettle and Amanda Weaver from the women's team achieved all-region distinction. Kettle and Weaver also achieved All-Academic distinction from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The men's and women's cross country teams gained All-Academic Team awards from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The men's and women's swimming & diving teams achieved distinction as Scholar All-America Teams released by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
Patty Rewa became the seventh Albion College women's basketball player to collect 1,000 points in her career.
Highlights during the 2010-2011 academic year included:
In women's swimming, four school records fell at the MIAA Championships. Ashley Collins lowered the school standards in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events and she was a member of the 200 and 400 medley relay teams.
