Britons fall to Wooster in opening NCAA contestWOOSTER, Ohio - The Albion College baseball team was defeated by The College of Wooster, 4-3, in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Tournament Thursday. Albion (25-15 overall) falls to the losers bracket where it will face Heidelberg (Ohio) College, which suffered a 5-1 defeat to Manchester (Ind.) College, Friday at 11 a.m. The winner moves on to a Saturday game at 11 a.m., while the loser will have its season come to an end. Albion collected eight hits in the contest. Senior third baseman Mike Cieszkowski (Howell/Hartland) and junior right fielder Chris Trott (Plymouth/Salem) finished with two hits apiece. Cieszkowski, senior Matt Shook (Coldwater/Coldwater), and sophomore Mike Pisha (Wixom/Walled Lake Western) each drove in a run. Wooster struck for two runs in the third inning, and two more in the fifth. Matt Miller delivered the big blow with a two-run blast over the left field fence in the fifth. Trailing 4-1, Albion rallied for a run in the sixth and a run in the ninth. In the sixth, Trott doubled to the fence in center field and scored on Cieszkowski's single. Cieszkowski led off the ninth with a single. Cieszkowski stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored when Pisha reached on an error by the Wooster shortstop.
