In game one, Albion scored a run in the first, fourth
and fifth innings.
In the first, senior Mark Flancbaum (Orchard

what was supposed to be a sacrifice bunt off the bat of Briton junior
Brian Sayers (Chelsea/Chelsea).
In the fourth, sophomore Mike Pisha (Wixom/Walled
Lake Western) led off with a single. Pisha stole second and advanced
to third on a single by junior David Seales (Alma/Alma). Pisha
came home on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Pete Grostic
(Muskegon/Muskegon).
In the fifth, Sayers led off with a single and later
scored on a sacrifice fly by senior Mike Cieszkowski
(Howell/Hartland).
Cieszkowski led the Briton offense with two hits in
the opening game. Flancbaum, Sayers, junior Chris Trott
(Plymouth/Salem), Pisha, Seales and Grostic each collected a hit.
On the mound, junior Jonathan Hastings (Fort
Gratiot/Port Huron Northern) scattered a run, two hits and five
walks over six innings. Pisha gained his fourth save of the season when
he worked a scoreless seventh inning.
In game two, Albion plated runs in the first, fifth
and sixth innings.
In the first, Flancbaum drew a leadoff walk. He stole
second, took third on a wild pitch, and scored on a single off the bat
of Sayers.
In the fifth, first-year player Bryan Smith
(Farmington/North Farmington) lined a shot off the Alma pitcher for
a single. He advanced to second on a balk by the Alma pitcher and scored
on Sayers' double to left-center.
In the sixth, Cieszkowski hit an infield single and
came around to score on a single by junior Mike Gough (Newport/Monroe
St. Mary's).
Sayers collected two of Albion's five hits in the
nightcap. Cieszkowski, Gough and Smith had the other hits for the
Britons.
