Albion drops non-league game to KCC

ALBION, Mich. - The Albion College baseball team was defeated by Kellogg Community College, 19-3, in a non-league game played at Frank Joranko Field Tuesday.

The Britons will take a 10-8 record into their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener against Alma College. The three-game series begins with a nine-inning game Friday, April 2, at 3 p.m., and continues with a doubleheader of seven-inning games Saturday, April 3, at 1 p.m.

In Tuesday's game, Albion fell behind 8-0 after 3-1/2 innings. The Britons created a two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth when junior Chris Trott (Plymouth/Salem) singled, senior Mike Cieszkowski (Howell/Hartland) reached on a fielder's choice, and senior Matt Shood (Coldwater/Coldwater) cleared the bases with his first homerun of the season on a blast to right field.

That was as close as the Britons would get, as KCC tacked on five runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and four in the ninth.
