Sleight Servant Leadership Program
Overview of Phases
During the first year of the
Sleight Servant Leadership Program, students are focused on learning
about their interests and abilities and how these unique qualities fit
into a larger community.
SELF in relation to others
(First-Year)
First-Year students will…
- Complete a Myers-Briggs Type
Indicator® and Strong Interest Inventory® as part of their
First-Year Seminar Group.
- Participate in inventory group
assessment with their First-Year Seminar class.
- Begin their digital portfolios.
- Complete 15 hours of volunteer
service.
- Reflect on their assessments and
volunteer experience in their digital portfolios.
Sophomore students begin to
focus on larger issues of leadership including ethics, communication,
and teamwork. Making connections and building relationships are key
focal points during this year.
ETHICAL SERVANT LEADERSHIP
(Sophomore Year)
Sophomore program participants
will…
- Participate in a summer Sophomore
Leader Academy.
- Engage in regular discussions with
small groups focusing on topics of ethics, critical thinking,
diversity, and service projects.
- Have the opportunity to complete the
StrengthsFinder® assessment in the spring semester if they are
interested in applying for a Peer Educator position.
- Begin developing a career plan,
including declaring a major.
- Update reflections and co-curricular
experiences sections of their digital portfolios.
Participating junior students,
who are selected, are fully engaged in their Peer Educator role this
year and are serving others through this active involvement on-campus.
This year is focused on continuing personal development, while engaging
themselves as leaders in a larger community.
GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP (Junior
Year)
Participating junior students
will…
- Continue service to others through
their peer roles, leadership roles or other volunteer experiences.
- Update reflections and co-curricular
experiences sections of their digital portfolios
Participating senior students
are transitioning into active, engaged, global citizens who are role
models of service and leadership within their communities.
LEGACY for the Common Good
(Senior Year)
Participating senior students
will…
- Participate in monthly reflections
related to transitions.
- Design, implement, and assess a
service project for First-Year students.
- Serve as a mentor during the
Sophomore Leadership Academy.
- Finalize career plans and steps to
find their first professional job or gain entrance to graduate
school.
- Update reflections and co-curricular
experiences sections of their digital portfolios.
- Present their legacies to other
members of the Albion community.
