This is not the first Ski and Snowboard Club on Albion's Campus.
Previously there was a club that ended in the mid 90's. The previous
club faded out because of too many big trips. The Present Albion College
Ski and Snowboard club was founded by
Derek Delzer, Christine Riker, Erik Durance and Sam Hogg and was constructed to
meet the needs of the many skiers and snowboarders on Albion's campus.
Our
club is all about the members. So far we have found that Albion gets a
lot of ex-racers, and recreational skiers, as well as many people who have
never had the chance to be out on a mountain but want to. Our club's goal is to reach out to all
of these people. We offer a couple of over-night trips, and day trips as
members show interest. We may try a big trip out west if there is a lot
of interest this year, but not at the expense of our other trips.
How to become a member:
To become a member all you have to do is pay your membership fee and
have some fun with the club. We try not to have an exhaustive amount of
meetings as most of Albion's students tend to have very busy schedules. Membership
dues are $25 for the 2006-07 Season. Membership dues are used for club
t-shirts and trips (our goal is to have made trips as cheap as possible
and have no left over money at the end of the year), so in essence your
money goes directly back into the club and helps pay for all of the fun
stuff that we do! By having dues we
are also better able to plan for trips and know who is really interested.
