What is Rush?
Rushing is the process of recruiting new members. Each year, we hope to recruit the best new men at Albion College. Our chapter, the Alpha Pi chapter, looks for men interested in pursuing the ideals of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. We hold rush events Anyone who has questions about the rush process should contact the Recruitment Chair, Chad Petherick, at cwp10@albion.edu. Pledging is the process that begins when a rushee signs a bid to a fraternity. The Sigma Chi pledge process is strictly non-hazing, and is designed to have pledges form bonds with their pledge brothers and the brothers in the house, and to learn about the values and history of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
Why Join Sigma Chi?
Pledging Sigma Chi could be one of the best decisions you make during your college career. You will form lifelong friendships with all of the brothers in our house, and we have one of the strongest brotherhoods on campus. The Alpha Pi chapter has a very diverse group of brothers all with different temperaments, talents, and convictions. The Sigma Chi Fraternity prides itself on being one of the largest fraternities in the world. In total, there are over 4 million initiates from the 56 recognized college fraternities, and Sigma Chi ranks 2nd in total initiates with over 260,000 and 4th in number of undergraduate chapters with 222.
Life-Long Friendships:
The brothers in your chapter are usually your closest friends. It is very much like a family away from family. These men will be close to you for the rest of your life. The time you share is unforgettable. What other group on campus can provide this?
Scholarship:
A Sigma Chi endeavors to achieve high maximum potential during his college years and continues the pursuit of knowledge throughout his lifetime. The Fraternity recognizes and awards academic achievements.
Diversity:
With a wide range of temperaments, talents, and convictions, members share meaningful bonds of brotherhood while still maintaining their individuality . A Sigma Chi can be found in almost every campus organization including student government, athletics, and service groups.
Leadership/Growth Opportunities:
You have opportunities provided by the Fraternity to take leadership positions and use your abilities to positively influence the chapter. You also have the opportunities to grow as a person. The diversity will contribute to your growth as well. Think about it, each person that you know in the chapter can teach you something and you gain a little bit from everyone. You can also get involved on campus or in the community through Greek service projects or Interfraternity Council (IFC). In addition, the General Fraternity has leadership programs such as Balfour Leadership Training Workshop, Horizons, Province Conferences, and the Leadership Consultant program that can develop you as well.
Ritual:
Sigma Chi has its social aspects, but it is based on ethics and values. Members share a Ritual that cements their friendship, builds character, and emphasizes high ideals.
