Have A Safe and Happy Summer
Keep Cool
- Use sun block with an SPF 15 or higher, and reapply every two
hours, and after swimming, sweating or while on the slopes.
- Wear sunglasses that filter UV light.
Stay Safe
- Think twice about tattoos or body piercings; if you do decide
to have a tattoo or piercing, make sure to use a reputable shop.
- Keep condoms on hand, if you are even thinking about sex.
- Sunscreen or suntan oil on your hands can cause condoms to
break.
Travel Safe
- Listen to your instincts. If a situation doesn’t feel right, it
probably isn’t.
- Know the local laws. Don’t do anything illegal, consequences in
other countries can be much more severe than in the U.S.
- Make a copy of the identification page from your passport and
keep it in a separate place.
- Make sure that someone at home has a copy of your travel plans,
hotel name and number and flight number.
Think Before You Party
- Plan to party. Set a limit and stick to it.
- Eat before you go.
- Drink two 12 oz. glasses of water before you leave for the party
and two 12 oz. glasses before you go to bed. A
- Alternate alcohol and other beverages.
- Keep your drink with you at all times.
- Don’t drink from open punchbowls.
- Don’t accept drinks from someone you do not know.
Know how to get help in an emergency, who and where to call
- If you have a friend who has passed out, stay with them. Lay the
person on their side with their knees bent. Monitor their breathing
and consciousness.
- If any of the following symptoms are
present, call for emergency help:
- Unable to rouse with shaking or shouting
- Respirations are 12/minute or less, shallow or irregular.
- Skin is cold, clammy or bluish.
