Amy L. Hupp ("Ames" "Huppy")

Amy L. Hupp ("Ames" "Huppy")Amy Hupp graduated from Albion College in May 2006 with a major in biology. Her studies focused on abiotic factors affecting nurse shark populations and reproduction in the Dry Tortugas, Florida. She is currently working in Shark Bay, Australia aiding fellow Albion alum Derek Burkholder as a research assistant. The research focuses on the interactions between tiger sharks, turtles, and their sea grass inhabited environments.

Derek Burkholder

Derek Burkholder

Derek Burkholder graduated from Albion College in 2004.  He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Marine Biology at the Florida International University with Dr, Mike Heithaus. His research is based in Shark bay Australia where he will spend six months each year for the next three years studying the interactions between tiger sharks and green sea turtles, and monitoring their effect on the sea grass beds of Shark Bay.

Nick Whitney

Nick WhitneyNick Whitney graduated from Albion College in 2000. He is currently completing his Ph.D. at the University of Hawaii studying population ecology of Pacific whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obssus). His collaborations with Albion College continued with the publication of a paper examining reproductive behaviors in whitetip reef sharks that appeared in the December 2004 issue of Animal Behavior (Whitney, N., H.L. Pratt, Jr. and J. C. CARRIER. 2004. Group courtship, mating behavior, and siphon sac function in the whitetip reef shark, Triaenodon obesus. Animal Behaviour 68(6): 1435-1442).
