Submission Guidelines

Published annually, The Albion Review features works of short fiction, poetry, essays, and visual art.

We strive to showcase the work of emerging undergraduate talents.

Contributors:

Undergraduate students currently enrolled in any college or university,

who have not yet obtained an undergraduate degree.

General Submission Information:

All submissions must be postmarked no later than October 20, 2007

All submissions must be unpublished. 

We reserve the right to decline any submission

if it does not follow the submission guidelines outlined below.

Writing Submission Guidelines:

• Fiction: Not to exceed 15 pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt. font. (please include page numbers)

• Poetry: Up to 5 poems, Times New Roman 12 pt. font. (please include page numbers, if poem exceeds one page)

• Creative Non-Fiction: Not to exceed 15 pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt. font. (please include page numbers)

• *If submitting to more than one category, please limit each category to one work.

•        ·        All literary work must be submitted in typed hard copy.

•        ·        Email entries and simultaneous submissions are not accepted for poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction.

•        ·        Please include a cover letter including:

  •         o       your name

  •         o       address

  •         o       title(s) of your piece(s)

  •         o       your undergraduate institution

  •         o       year in attendance

  •         o       email address

  •         o       phone/address

  •         o       short bio written in third person, not exceeding 50 words

•        ·        Please do not include name on the entry itself, since we select blindly.

•        ·        Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) for correspondence. All submissions unaccompanied by a SASE will be recycled.

Art Submission Guidelines:

·         Up to three pieces may be submitted (black and white, and color pieces welcome).

·         All submissions must be unpublished.

·         Please do not include name on the entry itself.

·         Artwork should be submitted in both of the following ways:

o       mail CD with work(s), or provide a link to a webpage where the artwork is displayed

o       email image(s) to The Albion Review at review@albion.edu

·         All images should be sent as an Adobe Photoshop file (psd) or a jpeg file.

·         Image resolution should be set at a pixel dimension of 2400 x 2400 (or maximum possible). 

•         ·         Please include a cover letter including:

  •           o       your name

  •           o       address

  •           o       title(s) of your piece(s) and mediums used for each piece

  •           o       your undergraduate institution

  •           o       year in attendance

  •           o       email address

  •           o       phone/address

  •           o       short bio written in third person, not exceeding 50 words

•         ·         Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) for correspondence. All submissions unaccompanied by a SASE will be recycled.

·         Please do not send original copies, they will not be returned.  Those not published will be recycled.
