Annexes

Annexes are housing options offered to upper-class students who are interested in a more independent, self-sufficient lifestyle than is offered in our traditional residence halls. Annexes are open during the same periods as all college residence halls and are closed during College vacation periods. Residents are responsible for self-government and cleaning of all common areas of the annex. Campus and U.S. Mail is delivered to mailboxes in the Kellogg Center.

Annexes are furnished small houses located on campus that accommodate between 5-10 students. Basic kitchen and laundry appliances are provided.

An application is required. Each group must designate a spokesperson who is to represent the group throughout the academic year and approval process. The spokesperson will work closely with Associate Director of Residential Life serving as a liaison and house manager for administrative tasks.

Each group will have the opportunity to indicate their preferences for assignment to a specific annex. Group size and cumulative lottery numbers of approved groups may be a factor in actual assignment. The final determination of location will be made by the Office of Residential Life. Approval and assignment is granted year-to-year. An applicant must be in good academic and social standing to be considered.

Community Area
Although the community area for each annex differs slightly, most annexes are similar to a normal residential house including a living room, dining room, basement and a front porch area.  These areas allow for both small and medium gatherings so students can socialize or study.  Laundry facilities are provided in each annex.

Bedroom Furnishings
Each double room is equipped with two beds, two desks & chairs, two closets, one chest of drawers, a telephone with private access to the College voice mail system, cable TV hookup, Internet connection and mini blinds. All College furniture must remain in the student's room for the duration of the academic year.

Bed Lofts
Lofts are not allowed in this area.

College Board Plan
Porter and Michigan Ave. (both 501 and 711) residents are not required to be on the College Board Plan. Students residing in the Coffee House are required to be on the College Board Plan.

Computer Labs
There are no computer labs in these buildings.  For students requiring access to a computer, the Ferguson Building computer lab is open 24 hours a day.

Rates
For the most current rates, please visit the Accounting Office Website.

Housing During College Breaks
Annexes are not open during periods that classes are not in session.  Students residing in these areas will be accommodated elsewhere in the College housing system if required to remain on campus during College breaks.
