Residence Hall Directors (RDs) are professional staff members, who have or are working on receiving a masters degree, that live in each of the major buildings (Wesley, Seaton, Mitchell, and Whitehouse) and supervise all student residences. Since RDs live in the halls, they are able to make personal connections with students. They are trained to assist students and respond to crises. On a rotation basis, one RD is on-call 24 hours a day for the entire campus. While on-call the RD can be reached in their office, apartment, or through Campus Safety to assist the resident assistants and/or to assist students.
Resident Assistants (RAs) are student staff members that live on the floors with the students in each of the residence halls. RAs are trained in crisis management, peer listening, and community development. They are a great resource for campus information. An RA is on-duty every night from 8:00 P.M. until 8:00 A.M. in each residential area. While on-duty, RAs do periodic rounds through their area and are available to address student needs.
If you are interested in becoming an RA, look for publicity in the middle of January or contact the Office of Residential Life.
