Burns Street Apartments

Burns Street Apartments

Burns Street Apartments are College-owned student apartments for senior and junior students who are interested in a more independent environment than our traditional halls. Residents of Burns Street Apartments are responsible for the housekeeping of their individual apartments.

These are furnished one-bedroom and efficiency apartments. Each apartment has a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, stove, and sink with garbage disposal. Students should plan to bring their own cookware, dishware, and utensils. Apartment furnishings include a love seat, chair, coffee table, end table (one-bedroom apartments only), a dining table, 3-4 dining chairs and a cable TV hook-up. A laundry room is located in the apartment complex for resident use. Campus and U.S. Mail is delivered to mailboxes in the Kellogg Center. Students with a spouse and/or dependents may bring their own beds and request to have the twin beds removed. All other furnishings must remain in the apartment. Preference goes to:

  • Married students (spouse need not be a student)
  • Students with children

Some cases may necessitate a student with specific medical be assigned to Burns Street Apartments. A set number of apartment are not assigned during the lottery process for new students who may require apartment living. 

Students must apply in groups of two during the Room Selection/Lottery process. Single occupancy is not available at Burns Street Apartments. An applicant must be in good academic and social standing to be eligible.

Students must vacate their apartment according to the college vacation schedule. Payment for housing is billed at a double single rate and charged directly to the student account.

Married Students/Students with Dependents

Married students and students with dependents may be housed in Burns Street Apartments. Rent for students with families is paid monthly directly to the Business Office. A copy of the marriage certificate or the dependent's birth certificate is required. Married students are eligible to request 12 month housing up until their graduation. If 12 month housing is desired, arrangements must be made with the Office of Residential Life at the time that family housing is requested. Students with dependents are provided housing based on the academic year only.

Community Area
There is a community laundry room in Burns Street Apartments. 

Bedroom Furnishings
Each apartment is equipped with two beds, two desks & chairs, closet, one chest of drawers, a telephone with access to the College voice mail system, Internet connection, and mini-blinds. All College furniture must remain in the student's apartment for the duration of the academic year.

Bed Lofts
Students are not allowed to build their own lofts.

College Board Plan
Students residing in this housing option are not required to be on the College Board Plan. If desired, students living in Burns Street Apartments may purchase of the College Board Plan by contacting the Office of Residential Life.

Computer Labs
There are no computer labs in these buildings.  For students requiring access to a computer, the Ferguson Building computer lab is open 24 hours a day.
