ALBION COLLEGE REPUBLICANS PRESS RELEASE Albion College Republicans Play Vital Role in Unprecedented Initiative Voter Registration Critical in 2004 Election
March 12, 2004 :
Albion, MI - Though the presidential election is more than 8 months away, Albion College Republicans are already on a mission to register as many new voters as possible, participating in the National Voter Registration Week campaign.
The campaign is the largest one-week voter registration effort in the history of any political party, aiming to register 3 million new voters before Election Day 2004. United with other conservative students across both the state and nation, the Albion College Republicans will be an important element in reaching this goal. Michigan Federation of College Republicans Chair Sam Moore is helping to coordinate the registration effort statewide. "Voting is a very important part of our democracy and I encourage all college students to get involved in the process. We are charting our future and the candidate we elect will play a very significant role. It is critical for students to be increasingly active in helping choose steady leadership during this time of change." Through word of mouth, hosting voter registration tables in the student union, and referring students to online registration sites like pumpupthevote.com, conservatives are empowering and motivating a brand new generation of voters. "We're all excited about this historic opportunity. The National Voter Registration Week campaign is a very real way of making a difference locally by getting students registered to vote and allowing them to have their voice heard for the first time," said Ryan Cassin, President of the Albion College Republicans.
