Follow These Steps to Secure an Internship at Albion College!

Procedure to Secure Credit Earning Internships

  1. Identify a faculty member who will agree to act as a faculty internship supervisor. This should be someone who shares an interest in the subject matter of your internship and is a member of the department granting credit for the internship. This person is often (but not necessarily) from your major.

  2. Internship forms can be obtained from the Registrar's web page or at the Office of the Registrar. You must have a 2.7 cumulative GPA or above to secure this form. If you do not have a 2.7 GPA, you must petition and obtain a letter from a faculty member that recommends you as eligible for an internship.   Attach this letter to your Internship Form and submit with your petition.

  3. The Internship Form must be completed by you, then signed by the following individuals:

A.  Your faculty internship supervisor

B.  The department chair of the department granting credit

C.  Your academic advisor

D.  The internship director in the Office of Career Development

  1. After obtaining signatures, submit the completed Internship Form to the Office of the Registrar.

  2. Register for the internship as one of the following course numbers during the scheduled course registration.
(This means you must plan ahead for your internship to receive credit!)

  Course number 391 ½ unit
  Course number 392 1 unit
  Course number 393 1½ units
  Course number 394 2 units
Course number 398 ½ unit practicum
Course number 399 1 unit practicum
NOTE: No more than 4 units of credit received in connection with internships may apply toward graduation. No more than 1 unit of credit received in connection with internships may apply toward the minimum requirements for a major (exception: BFA program).
  1. Be sure to pay for your internship course by the tuition deadline date.  If your internship will take place over the summer, your summer school application, internship form and tuition is due no later than the first day of summer school.

  1. Keep in contact with your faculty internship supervisor to be sure you are completing all required learning objectives during your internship.

NOTE: Credit or non-credit internships can be paid or unpaid internships.  It is up to you to determine your rate of pay, if any.

Procedure to Secure Non-Credit Earning Internships

Because you are not receiving credit for this type of internship, no formal process needs to be completed through Albion College.

Submit Completed Form to the Office of the Registrar.
