FIRST DAY OF CLASS ATTENDANCE POLICY
 

Instructors may drop from their course any student who is registered for the course and not present during the first scheduled meeting. If a student cannot be present at the first class session, he/she must make arrangements with the instructor prior to the first class meeting in order to maintain a place in the course. Students should complete the drop/add procedure for all schedule adjustments they wish to make.

You will be able to determine if a course fills a core or category requirement simply by reviewing the listing for the course.

MODE = indicates what mode this course fills
CAT = indicates what category this course fills

HOW TO REGISTER

HOW DO I ACCESS THE ALBION COLLEGE INFORMATION SYSTEM (ACIS):

Go to: http://www.albion.edu/registrar
(AVAILABLE 4:00 A.M. to 11:30 P.M. DAILY)

Click ACIS INFORMATION SYSTEM on left side bar
Click ENTER SECURE AREA
Enter USER ID  (your student ID number including two leading zeros)
TAB to Enter PIN  (you created when you first accessed ACIS)
Click LOGIN

NAVIGATION:  DO NOT USE the back button on your browser while using ACIS unless instructed to do so by the program. Using the back button will force you to re-login to the system. Use the buttons at the bottom of each page to return to a previous menu, select another option, or exit the system.

WHEN MAY I REGISTER:  Your advisor will tell you when your registration time is during the advising process. You may check holds before your registration time and enter registration information at any point after your registration time.

HOLDS:  The registration status screen will indicate if a hold has been placed on your registration.

If you have a hold on your registration, you will not be able to register UNTIL the hold is removed. To have a hold removed contact the office indicated on the screen. Holds by the Accounting Office, Office of the Registrar, Vice President of Student Affairs Office, or Health Services may be placed on a student's registration up to 24 hours prior to your beginning registration time.

HOW DO I REGISTER:  You register using the ACIS Information System.
To register online:
Login to ACIS
Select:
          _Student Services & Financial Aid
          _Registration
          _Add/Drop Classes

If you have not previously selected a semester, a screen will prompt you for the term for which you want to register.
Use the pull down menu to select Fall 2004.
Click Submit Term.

At the Add/Drop Classes Fall 2004 screen, enter the four digit course number (CRN) for the course. The CRN is in the schedule of courses.
Click Submit Changes.

The screen will show the courses for which you are registered and an error table (see below) will list the courses in which you were not able to enroll. You may enter a new CRN or search for an available class by clicking the class search button. To drop a class: select the pull down menu next to the course you want to drop, and select web drop.
Click Submit Changes.

SEARCH FOR AN AVAILABLE CLASS:  Select from Registration Menu: Look-up Class to Add, select Class Search at the bottom of the add/drop classes menu. At this screen you may determine one or several criteria to search for a course in the schedule. You must select a SUBJECT to use the search screen. Click find Classes. Search results will indicate if a course is closed by placing a >C= in front of the CRN. A box will appear in front of open classes. Check the box and click Add to Worksheet to add the course to your schedule.

SPECIAL REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
The following registration procedures must be completed at the Office of the Registrar:

  • Registration for more than 4.5 units
  • Registration to repeat a course
  • Registration for permission-required courses
  • Registration to audit a class

Once you have completed the registration process, print a copy of your schedule. Use the registration menu and select one of the following options:

  • Student Schedule by Day & Time
  • Student Detail Schedule
  • Print Screen (select file from menu bar and print)

EXIT when you have completed the process using the exit button. To protect your privacy, CLOSE THE BROWSER when you finish.

PIN NUMBERS:  Do not share your PIN with any other individual. Your PIN will deactivate automatically if it is incorrectly entered three times. Remember, if you have letters in your PIN it is case sensitive. Beware of the Caps Lock button. To receive a new PIN number, students must login to secure area. Enter User I.D. #, click on forgot pin ? box, answer the security question, submit answer, enter new PIN #, reenter new PIN # and click on reset PIN. Forgotten PIN numbers can be obtained from the Office of the Registrar with your ID. PIN numbers will not be assigned by telephone or e-mail.

REGISTRATION ERRORS

REGISTRATION ERROR MESSAGE EXPLANATION
CRN does not exist The four digit course number does not exist. Course may have been cancelled or number was incorrectly entered.
Closed Section The course is fully enrolled; for over-ride see instructor and bring permission to add to the Office of the Registrar.
Dupl. CRN with sec ???? Registration for this course has already been recorded
Time Conflict with ???? Course meets at the same time as a course already selected.
CORQ_???? Req Registration for the co-requisite course must be included. Register for both CRN numbers.
Instructors Signature Obtain signature of instructor and bring to the Office of the Registrar

RELEASE OF DIRECTORY INFORMATION
 

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Copy of policy available at Registrar's Office

At its discretion the College may provide Directory Information in accordance with the provisions of the Act to include: Name, Local Address, Permanent Address, Name of Parent(s)/Guardian(s), Local Phone Number, Dates of Enrollment, Degrees Earned, Dates of Degrees, Awards/Honors/Scholarships, Major, Sports and Activities, Height and Weight of Members of Athletic Teams, Advisor, Concentrations, Albion College E-mail Address. It should be known that it is the college's choice to release this information, and careful consideration is given to all requests to insure that the information is not released indiscriminately. A student may withhold Directory Information by notifying the Registrar's Office in writing within two weeks after the first day of class for the fall/spring term.

Requests for non-disclosure will be honored by the institution for only one academic year; therefore, authorization to withhold Directory Information must be filed annually in the Registrar's Office.
