Women’s Tennis

● Record: 13-9, 8-0 MIAA; 1st place UPDATE

Last week: Albion 6, Hope 3; Albion 9, Olivet 0

This week: Fri.-Sat - MIAA tournament (in Holland); May 6-7 - NCAA central regional

This and that: In its toughest MIAA match against Hope, Albion only split its six single matches but swept the doubles matches—all in three sets—to pull out the victory. No. 3 doubles pair Vicky Seiter, Grosse Pointe sophomore, and Mara Rendina, Monroe first-year, lost the first set 6-0 before coming back to win the next two 6-2, 6-3.

Men’s Tennis

● Record: 8-10, 3-3 MIAA; 4th place

● Last week: Hope 6, Albion 3; Albion 9, Tri-State 0

This week: Fri.-Sat. - MIAA tournament (at Kalamazoo)

This and that: Against Hope, Albion took two out of three doubles matches to grab an early 2-1, but it could only manage one singles victory (Alex Galvin, Grosse Pointe sophomore, won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles). Albion’s No. 3 doubles pair of Joe Ramah, Saginaw junior, and Andrew Lulek, Canton sophomore, suffered Albion’s lone doubles loss in three sets.

Women’s Track

● Record: 4-2 in dual meets

● Last week: Albion 147, Olivet 32; Calvin 124, Albion 66

This week: Fri.-Sat. - Gina Relays at Hillsdale

This and that: Autumn Charnley, Richland Township first-year, won the 100-meter dash and broke the school record in the 200, in which she finished on Saturday. Cortney Hilton, Allen first-year, won the 400 hurdles for Albion.

Men’s Track

● Record: 5-1 in dual meets

● Last week: Albion 149, Olivet 37; Calvin 116.5, Albion 75.5

This week: Fri.-Sat. - Gina Relays at Hillsdale

This and that: Three Britons provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships: Matt Gordon, Hillsdale senior, in the javelin; and Jason Bowman, Gaylord junior, and Charles Lott, Flint senior, in the triple jump. ... Nick Kyriakopoulus, Lansing sophomore, ran Albion’s first ever sub-12 second 100, finishing in 10.92 seconds to defeat teammate Ryan Williams, Southfield senior, by a tenth of a second.

Softball

● Record: 20-18, 8-6 MIAA; tied for 4th

● Last week: Albion 1, Calvin 0; Calvin 7, Albion 3; Hope 8, Albion 0; Hope 7, Albion 6

This week: Sat. - at Olivet (DH); May 4-6 - MIAA tournament (at regular-season winner)

This and that: Andrea English, Troy first-year, was named the MIAA Pitcher of the Week for tossing back-to-back shutouts.

Baseball

● Record: 19-12-1, 15-5 MIAA; 2nd place
