In memory: Holmes had 'special spirit'
By James Spencer

Norine Holmes, long-time music department secretary, passed away Nov. 19. Holmes was the department's first full-time secretary - a position she held for 18 years.

She took a leave of absence in the spring, for health reasons. "She had a special spirit about the department," said Melvin Larimer, professor and chair of music.

"She was one of the most giving and generous people I've ever encountered." Holly Bringman, Traverse City senior and music education major, summed up Holmes' nature and impact on the college.

"[She] was everybody's mom. She had a very significant impact on my life at Albion, and I'm going to miss her."

A memorial service for Holmes was held at 10 a.m. yesterday in Wesley Chapel. Her family requests all donations go to the Albion Church of the Nazarene.
