Requiem to be performed Sunday
By AC Office of Communications

The Albion College Choral Society, along with the College Orchestra, will perform Johannes Brahms' Requiem, 4 p.m. Sunday in Goodrich Chapel.

The choral society has existed at Albion for over 20 years for the purpose of performing larger choral works.

Membership is drawn from the college staff and faculty, as well as members of the Albion community.

The Concert Choir is also part of the society's membership.

In addition, there will be an alumni choir, comprised of over 80 Albion graduates, joining the society for the performance. The Requiem features two soloists.

Beverley Rinaldi, a Cleveland Institute of Music faculty member and noted performer, will be singing the soprano solo.

The baritone soloist is Ted Christopher, a graduate student at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.

According to Melvin Larimer, professor of music and director of choirs, the Requiem was Brahms' first large-scale composition.

"This is the composition that catapulted Brahms into the limelight as a major composer," he said.
