Alumni/Faculty Endowed Physics Scholarship
The Alumni/Faculty Endowed Physics Scholarship will be given each year to current or incoming students who are
on either a physics or pre-engineering track
and who have demonstrated potential for mastery of classical and
modern physics. Financial need will be considered in the review of scholarship applications. The
recipient will be announced at the Honors Convocation in April.
Dorothy and David Kammer Scholarship in Physics
The Dorothy and David Kammer Scholarship in Physics was
established by the Kammers to support highly qualified students in pursuit of a major in physics at
Albion. David Kammer is an emeritus member of the Physics Department Faculty.
The scholarship will be awarded to current or incoming students who intends to
major in physics.
This scholarship is an academic award
and is not based on financial need. This award, however, may be granted in addition to other eligible financial aid
and may be used to reduce the
amount of guaranteed student loans and on-campus employment included in the student’s financial aid
package. The recipient of this award will be announced at the Honors Convocation in April.
Charles W. Ricker Scholarship in Physics
The Physics Department is proud to announce a new award, The Charles W. Ricker
Scholarship in Physics. Every spring, the Physics Department will choose an incoming student who intends to
major in physics for this award. Only students with exemplary academic
records will be considered.

Norma J. Taber Scholarship for Women in Engineering
This scholarship is presented each year to an outstanding woman who is participating in the combined
course program in engineering. This award was established by Norma J. Taber '78, who completed the
combined course program at Washington University
in St. Louis and has since had a very successful career
as an engineer.
E.T.S. Walton Award
A prize established by Nobel Laureate E.T.S. Walton is given annually to the
outstanding senior physics major. This award consists of a technical book of the recipient's choosing. The award is announced at
the Honors Convocation in April.
Howard E. Pettersen Prize
The outstanding sophomore physics major is given the Howard E. Pettersen Prize each year. This prize
was established to honor Professor Emeritus Howard Pettersen, who was a member of the physics
faculty for 41 years. The prize is announced at the Honors Convocation in April.
