Public Observing

Join us on the roof of the Palenske Building and in our historical observatory in the Honors Building for star and planet viewing on selected nights and days this year.

The telescopes will be open to the campus community and the public for viewing celestial objects, weather permitting.

Tentative schedule (2012):

  • Tuesday, June 5: Venus Transit Event, Warren Dunes State Park, sponsored by the Kalamazoo Astronomical Society, starting at 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 20: Public Observing, Palenske roof, starting 1 hour after sunset (Rain date: June 21)
  • Saturday, Sept. 22: Public Observing, Palenske roof, in celebration of International Observe the Moon Night (times TBD)
  • Saturday, Oct. 13: Public Observing, Homecoming event (times TBD)

The Alvan Clark telescope is located near the center of the Albion College Quadrangle. Palenske Hall is located on East Michigan Avenue, just east of Hannah Street.
