What We're Planning for the Future
Over the coming years, Project First Step has an interest in growing
and expanding our program to reach out to more children, across the
country. With an established test site in Albion, MI, PFS would like to
move onward to a national scale. With the recent presentation in
Washington D.C. now behind us, we are looking at established programs
such as the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP), and other
organizations for funding and assistance. Below are just a few snippets
of the presentation put on in D.C:
TWIST
- 5-9 Child development gap
- Research indicates that internalizing movement skills at this
age is imperative for future overall success
- Helps children with sports and activity readiness
Project First Step
- Contributes to learning readiness based internalized fundamental
movement skills
- Focuses daily on the following skills:
- balance
- body image
- hand-eye coordination
- laterality
- tactile touch
- audio receptive/audio expressive language
