The
Ned S. Garvin Endowed Scholarship in Philosophy was established
in honor and in tribute to the life of philosophy and
neuroscience professor, Dr. Ned S. Garvin. The endowed
scholarship was first awarded in April of 2007.
Dr Garvin, or
"Dr. G" as students called him, was a member of Albion’s faculty
since 1974. He passed away in June 2006 following a brief
battle with cancer. He was a beloved and outstanding teacher and
colleague.

The
Susan J Liioi Memorial Scholarship in Ethics was established in
1989 in memory of Susan J. Liioi, a student at Albion College,
who's life ended suddenly. It is awarded to an
upperclassman who has shown interest and excelled in the study
of applied ethics, regardless of major, sex, financial need or
overall grade point average.
Students may elect to complete an Honors
Thesis making them eligible to
graduate with honors. This project is
usually undertaken in connection with one
or more directed studies and represents an
opportunity for the student to pursue, in
depth, a topic of particular interest to
them.
