New art professor makes Albion College exhibition debut

dixon1.jpgIn an exhibit centering around racial identity, or more accurately, bi-racial identity, Albion College's new studio art professor Michael Dixon presents “Sambo Scratches His Navel and Watches His Crazy Sister.” The show runs through Saturday, March 28, capping off with a lecture on Friday, March 27 and a culminating performance by Onye Ozuzu on Saturday, March 28.

Equestrian Center to offer BHS instructional program

In the fall semester of 2009, training at Albion College's Nancy Held Equestrian Center will take on a whole new meaning for a handful of students, who will be enrolled in the College's new British Horse Society instructional program. The program, which will allow Albion students to train to become internationally-certified equine professionals while earning their Bachelor's degrees in the liberal arts programs at the school, is available at no other Midwestern school and at very few other colleges nationwide.

VanAken tabbed for presidency at Thiel

Dr. Troy D. VanAkenDr. Troy D. VanAken, who has served Albion College for 10 years, most recently in the position of executive vice president, has been selected as the 19th president of Thiel College in Greenville, Pa. VanAken will assume his new post in July 2009.

As executive vice president at Albion, VanAken's responsibilities include budget planning and oversight, facilities planning, internal and external entrepreneurial initiatives, information technology and numerous other areas. He also is heavily involved in trustee relations, community projects, fundraising and other grant initiatives.
