Trustee interviewed about sustainability efforts |
|
News Releases
|
An interview with Dan Musser, Albion College trustee and president of Mackinac Island's Grand Hotel, will air on WJR Radio's "Greening of the Great Lakes" program Friday night. Musser's interview is scheduled to run at 7:30 p.m. on 760 AM.
Musser will talk about sustainability efforts at the hotel, including the challenge of air conditioning all of the public space and rooms that don't face the front of the hotel. The solution involved a system using a heat exchanger to produce enough hot water to heat the half-million gallon swimming pool for most of the summer and temper some of the water to the golf course.
The Grand Hotel was able to reduce its electric use by 14 percent.
