The Albion College Japanese language program will be hosting a traditional Japanese matsuri (festival) at Albion College as their annual “Grand Cultural Activity.” The Japanese matsuri will be take place on Thursday Nov. 19, from 7 p.m. onward in the College's Kellogg Center.
Beginning with funny Japanese skits, the matsuri also features a fashion show where Japanese language students will be modeling traditional Japanese kimono up and down the runway. All the while, matsuri stalls with Japanese food, traditional Japanese games (like yo-yo diving), and calligraphy designing provide entertainment for guests. As language instructor Takami Mohri exclaims, “This is a special opportunity, and I hope that many people will come to experience a Japanese matsuri. Students have been planning the event for months on end, and it is sure to be an interesting and enjoyable cultural experience for all.”
This event is free and open to the public. However, tickets are limited so please be sure to arrive in advance. For more information, contact Mohri at
