Albion MI - On Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 4 p.m., the Albion College Music Department presents their Fall Faculty Recital in the Goodrich Chapel.
The program consists entirely of music composed in the last 60 years, focusing on modern interpretations of both solo and duo repertoire. The one exception to the program will be a modern (swung) take of J. S. Bach's Sarabande from Cello Suite 1, BWV 1007; the arranger, Bobby Streng, is featured on tenor sax, and is joined with David Gilliland on piano and James Ball on double bass.
The recital will also include “Intrada” by Arthur Honegger (Jon Kretschmer, trumpet; David Gilliland, piano), “Soliloquies” by Leslie Bassett (Meghan Merciers, clarinet), “Talking in my Sleep” by Murray Gross (Takeshi Abo, violin),“Upload” by Dan Tramte (Robert Streng, alto saxophone with electronic tape), “Velocities” by Joseph Schwanter (Stacy Jones, marimba), and selections from “Tango-Etudes” by Astor Piazzolla (Rebecca Van De Ven, oboe, David Gilliland, piano).
