Relay for Life

In the spirit of the holiday season, the Albion College Equestrian club banded together to raise over $900 for the American Cancer Society as part of the College-wide Relay for Life program on Saturday, November 19.

In total, the Albion relay event raised over $14,000 for cancer research, thanks to the diligent fundraising efforts of sixteen teams of Albion College students.  The equestrian relay team, which was comprised of 18 members of the three Albion equestrian teams and the general equestrian club, was the third-largest student team that participated in the event.

What was most impressive about the equestrian club's participation in the all-night event, however, was not the amount of money that they raised, but that nearly all of the students on the relay team had already spent the entire day on Saturday helping to run the dressage team's home competition with an early start at 6:00 a.m.  Six particularly hardy team members even made it a 24-hour day by sticking it out at the Relay for Life until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning!

Relay for Life team captain Lauren Levy (Amherst, MA/Stoneleigh-Burnham) was thrilled with her team's participation in the special event.

"It was great to have everyone come out and show their support for the cause!" Levy said.
