Alumni in the News: Bill Sweeney, '98; Sarah McNitt, '02
January 15, 2014 (updated January 21, 2014)
A pair of Albion alumni have begun 2014 at the top of their game.
Bill Sweeney, '98, was named chief of staff for Michigan U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow on January 1. Sweeney, a native of Wayne, Mich., and a member of the Ford Institute while at Albion, has been a part of the Stabenow team since her 2000 Senate campaign.
Sarah McNitt, '02, showed on national television that Albion graduates know a lot about a lot. She is the current champion on Jeopardy! after her Tuesday, January 14 victory on the popular game show.
The Ann Arbor, Mich., native majored in French at Albion, studied in Grenoble, France, as a junior and is currently a Study Abroad Advisor & Program Coordinator at the University of Iowa.
Update, January 21: McNitt is now a five-time Jeopardy! champion, with earnings totaling $89,398. On MLive, McNitt, through a press release issued by the game show, said, "When I was applying to colleges, one of the essays I wrote talked about how I wanted to get a liberal arts education because it would prepare me to be a contestant on Jeopardy!"
