Lauren Roberts Presents Senior Vocal Recital
Albion College Senior Lauren Roberts will perform her senior voice recital on Saturday, April 21, at 5 p.m. in Goodrich Chapel. Her repertoire ranges from foreign language art song to contemporary musical theatre, including selections from Manuel de Falla’s Spanish songs, Brahms' Gypsy songs, and contemporary music by Kurt Weill and Marcy Heisler/Zina Goldrich.
While preparing for this recital, Roberts said, “The most exciting part for me was to explore the role of women in music. I was able to pull from my gender studies minor and sociology major to interpret and find the meaning in all the pieces I have worked on.” Through the morals of Falla’s folk songs and the storytelling in the selected Gypsy songs, Roberts was able to connect with how women were treated as subjects in music from earlier times.
The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, email
